2005 in Retrospect: Again victories for Raich and Rocca
You have to look twice not to mix the past two seasons up. But also short before Christmas 2005 the winners of the two technic-competitions were Benjamin Raich (AUT) at giant slalom and Giorgio Rocca (ITA) at slalom like already in february 2005. It will be interesting to observe whether they can repeat their triumph for the third time in 2007.

Kranjska Gora attractive all year round
Kranjska Gora lies at the foot of the Julischen Alps, at an altitude of only 800 metres. Nevertheless the snow usually holds well on the wooded, and further down tree-free, slopes of the Vitranc, (1,215 m). The limited traffic in the town centre adds to the absolutely idyllic atmosphere of Kranjska Gora, and and to its popularity the whole year round. The mountains, with their huts, and the clearly defined and well constructed paths, afford wonderful hiking possibilities. Fishing and hunting complete the recreational oppurtunities on offer.
Winter-sport possible until May
The largest and best known winter-sport centres are: Kranjska Gora, Krvavec, Bovec-Kanin, Bohinj, Maribor-Pohorje, Rogla and Bled. In a good winter its possible to ski from December until March, in some resorts even until the beginning of May. Kranjska Gora has almost 30 km of downhill slopes, with 20 lift facilities, and, parallel to the banks of the river Sava, up to 40 km of cross-country skiing trails. By now snow-cannons have also been installed in order to prepare the slopes artificially if necessary.
A full programme, on and off the slopes
As a holidaymaker in this Slovenian town, situated in the border triangle between Austria and Italy, the guests want for nothing. Apart from the winter activities other offers include, curling, swimming or rafting. But there is also plenty of entertainment for the non-sporting type: For example a visit to the casino, a café, disco, restaurant or one of the stores or shops.
