Cuche wins, Head Dominates in Val Gardena

December 14th, 2007

The Head-Racers delivered an exciting presentation of speed and top-quality technique in the Super G at Val Gardena in Italy. At the end of the exhibition, Didier Cuche was on top of the leader board with a time of just two hundredths of a second faster than Bode Miller, and only four hundredths faster than Marco Büchel, concluding the show with three Head Athletes standing at the Podium.

On the classic Saslong run, the potential of the Head Racing Team in the World Cup Speed-Disciplines was certainly uncovered. With five Head Racers in the Top 10, having Patrick Staudacher of Italy in 6th Place, Hermann Maier of Austria in 8th Place, and three on top of the Podium, the spectators and participants definitely were shown the power of Head-Tyrolia's Race Team.

The first fastest time in the fight for the top spot was clocked by Marco Büchel (9th starting position) who sat through all competitors patiently waiting for the favorites, Miller (21st) and Cuche (22nd) to take thier runs. The returning champion from the previous season, Bode Miller in his run, clocked a time only slightly better than Büchel, leaving him in the top spot in hopes of victory. But with Cuche yet to come everyone knew it was not over yet. With another super consistant performance, Cuche was able to edge out Miller by only a couple hundredths, and obtain the 2nd place spot in the Overall World Cup Standings. The next World Cup Series Downhill will be held on December 15th at the same place, with Heads Cuche as the favorite.
