February 4th, 2009

Extreme challenge for athletes and material

The race was predestinated for the best downhiller of the early part of the season. The extreme steep and icy "Bellevarde" piste was a serious challenge for the best skiers of the world. His great amount of courage, sense and perfect technical skills were the main reasons that made Didier Cuche win this important race.

A record breaking Gold medal
Showing a oerfect race the 34-year old Swiss was rewarded at the finish line. After his top time flashed up on the score board, the Swiss raised his HEAD skis in the air. After realizing his first Gold medal at the Worlds, Cuche is able to celebrate another record: He is now the oldest alpine World Champion ever. The next races at Val d'Isère will even offer him the chance to further improve this record.
