Event: Air Attack dry slope jam session at Snowtrax Christchurch.

13 year old freestyle snowboarder Becky Menday is now back to full strength after sustaining an ankle injury in the finals of the World Rookie Fest in Ischgl in Austria. The injury meant that Becky had to pull out of the competition after making it all the way through to the finals and she was very disappointed.

But two weeks later and plenty of rest her disappointment and injury were a thing of the past. Becky took a solid first place in the under 16's category at the Air Attack competition held at the Snowtrax dry slope at Christchurch. Becky showed her strong all-round ability, not only can she compete on the mountains and indoor slopes, but is also a strong challenger on the dry slope.

Becky's series of strongly styled technical moves impressed the judges so much she was even nominated for the 'best trick award'. The young snowboarder came away with a cool £100 for her efforts and was very pleased with her result.

The event was held to showcase a new type of dry slope surface that had just recently been installed at the slope. The new surface is called 'Proslope' and makes freestyle riding on dry slope a far more enjoyable experience and allows a lot more control than on previous systems.

Becky said "So happy to take first place, the atmosphere was really cool and the competition had a good vibe, I really like this new dry slope surface as it gives you a lot of confidence and control to try out all your tricks".

Becky does not have much time to spend her winnings as she has a weekend of training with the GB Junior Team at Hemel Hempstead indoor slope this coming weekend. Followed by another two competitions in Castleford, Leeds and Glasgow, Scotland.
