In preparation for the French Open, which runs through June 10, HEAD players enjoyed success at various tournaments this past weekend.

HEAD player Gael Monfils reached the final round of the Hypo Group Tennis International in Poertschach, defeating former No. 1 players Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewit on the way with his HEAD Flexpoint Prestige Mid. Monfils upset fourth-seeded Hewitt 6-4, 7-5 in the semifinals and beat third-seeded Roddick 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, in the doubles competition, HEAD player Julian Knowle and his partner Simon Aspelin claimed the doubles title with a victory over Czech teammates Leos Friedl and David Skoch 7-6, 5-7, 10-5. Knowle chooses the HEAD Liquidmetal Prestige Mid as his weapon of choice on the courts.

“We were very motivated today and also pretty nervous because we wanted to win this title so much,” said Knowle. “It's been going very well with Simon and we want to go as far as possible in Roland Garros."

HEAD Player Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain won her first tournament of 2007 in Strasbourg against fellow HEAD player Amelie Mauresmo. Medina Garrigues defeated Mauresmo 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 with her HEAD MicroGel Extreme. This win brings Medina Garrigues her seventh career title and her second victory at the Internationaux de Strasbourg since 2005. Mauresmo plays with the new MicroGel Radical MP.
