September 8th, 2010

HEAD racquet rebels claim four of eight places in the quarter finals of the US Open 2010 in Flushing Meadows to demonstrate the “Power of You”!

World’s No. 3 Novak Djokovic was the first one to enter the quarters using his YouTek Speed MP when he dismissed the challenge of in-form Mardy Fish with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 over the American No. 19 seed, showing perfect performance. “It’s important to perform your best tennis at Grand Slams, and this was my aim for 2010,” said the Serbian after his 6th victory in 6 matches against Fish. For the first time in his career Djokovic advanced to the quarter finals at all four majors in the same year. Now he is facing Gael Monfils and hoping to reach the semi finals for the third time in a row.

Second winning racquet rebel was Robin Soderling from Sweden - YouTek Radical MP – who overcame a slow start against Spanish No 21 seed Albert Montanes before winning in four sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. in the quarter final Söderling is facing a rematch with Roger Federer, whom he extended to four sets in the same round last year.

Russian World No 14 Mikhail Youzhny - YouTek Extreme Pro - was able to hold off Tommy Robredo’s challenge and defeated the Spaniard 7-5, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. “I think it’s the first time I have reached two quarter finals in Grand Slams in the same year,” said the Muscovite after his match, “and I hope I improve my game a little more before the next match.” In the semi final Youzhny will face Stanislas Wawrinka in a HEAD duel.

Swiss No. 25 Wawrinka wielded his YouTek Prestige MP and ended American hopes as he battled past Sam Querrey 7-6, 6-7, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 after almost four and an half hours in very blustery conditions. After saving three break points in the third game of set No. 5, Wawrinka broke Querrey’s serve in the 10th game to capture a dramatic victory. When he won this match against Querrey and the crowd in the Arthur-Ashe-Stadium he was happy to reach a Grand Slam quarter final for the first time in 23 attempts.

In the men’s doubles unseeded HEAD racquet rebel Horacio Zeballos and his partner Eduardo Schwank from Argentina continued their dream run at the US Open by defeating fifth seeds Lukas Kubot and Oliver Marach 6-3, 7-6 to reach the semi finals in their Grand Slam debut.
