Didier Cuche enlarges lead in the Downhill World Cup standings

February 26th, 2007

In the second downhill at the World Cup weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER) the Head-Tyrolia team could celebrate another place on the podium. Didier Cuche started off with bib 30 on the difficult Kandahar course and missed the victory only by 53 hundredths of a second, finishing in 1:57.33.

His performance was especially impressive because the conditions on the slope became more difficult during the race. But the Head-Tyrolia racer wasn´t impressed by this fact. He chose the perfect line and stormed to place three.

In the finish Cuche was very happy because he could celebrate this third position like a victory. With this result the Swiss has enlarged his lead in the Downhill World Cup standings and can reach out for the small crystal globe now. Anyway his competitors will find it tough to catch up the 128 points. With Marco Buechel of Liechtenstein another Head-Tyrolia racer is the second best downhiller of the World Cup.
