Hans Grugger succeeds in Garmisch

February 23rd, 2007

Head-Tyrolia athlete Hans Grugger has returned impressively to the league of the world´s top skiers on the Kandahar speed run in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In 1:57.04 he mastered the difficult course and only missed his first victory of the season by 22 hundredths of a second.

The makeup race in Garmisch on Friday replaced the cancelled Streif downhill in Kitzbuehel. At two-digit degrees Celsius the slope presented itself pretty soft and punished those athletes who missed the ideal line. These conditions couldn´t mislead Grugger and he kept the best line up to the finish. Especially in the flat part he profited by his fast equipment and could exult in the finish.

Newly crowned super G World Chhampion Patrick Staudacher and Head-Tyrolia team mate Andreas Buder ranked nineth and tenth, topping the good team result off once more. On Saturday, February 24th one further men´s downhill is on the agenda in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
