Christine Sponring becomes third anew

January 29th, 2007

The Olympic course in San Sicario (ITA) seemed to be Christine Sponring´s slope. After her sensational third place in the super G on Friday, January 26th the Head-Tyrolia skier repeated her success and could jump once more on the podium in the second super G on Sunday.

Hope for participation at the World Championships

With bib four the Austrian started into the race and set the first clear benchmark by a leap of 2,5 seconds which wasn´t beaten by anybody for a long time. Finally Sponring only missed the victory barely by three tenths of a second. "After Friday I also had a good feeling today and I succeeded to show a good run. I´m really satisfied", the Head-Tyrolia athlete reported after her third place on the podium altogether. "I hope now that I can take part in the World Championships."

Maria Riesch with upward trend

In the meantime 23 years old Sponring has arrived on the nineth place in the super G World Cup standings. But that is not the only good news for the Head-Tyrolia team. Also the twelfth position scored by maria Riesch is joyous. She shows an upward trend as well and can look at the World Championships in Are (SWE) optimistically. There Christine Sponring´s favorite discipline - the super G - is on the women´s agenda on February 4th.
