Head racer Maria Riesch is on her way to become a serious contender for the overall World Cup victory of the season. At the Czech resort Spindleruv Mlyn, she was able to accomplish a podium position once more, missing her first win of the season only by fractions.
After delivering a blowing performance in the first run, Riesch was the last athlete to start in the second run and finished third. Head racer Sarka Zahrobska came home fifth in front of her home crowd.
Riesch finds herself now in second place overall, only 34 points behind the current leader, and with an excellent chance to claim the overall cup.
