Cuche wins Downhill World Cup

March 11th, 2008

Without a training run, the season’s last downhill, scheduled for Wednesday, cannot be held. The cancellation of that race means a double victory for HEAD as Cuche’s teammate Bode Miller comes up five points short in his pursuit of the fast Swiss who also won the title in 2007.

Cuche’s Chrystal globe is the third for HEAD in this World Cup season. Bode Miller is on a good way to winning the Overall title. His HEAD teammate Didier Cuche is still fighting for the Super G title. With a 89 point lead over the field a top 15 finish in Bormio would make him win the third World Cup title of his career.

And also the HEAD girls have big plans for the finals in Bormio. Besides being Lindsey Vonn’s most dangerous competitor in the Overall World Cup standings, HEAD racer Maria Riesch is also aiming for the Super G title this season. Riesch has a commanding lead in the standings with 334 in the Super G, but her teammate Elisabeth Görgl is just behind her in second place going into the last race in Bormio.
