HEAD Creates Space for Fans

December 22nd, 2009

In 2010 the Austrian ski manufacturer HEAD will launch itself into the Facebook era and open up the doors to glory with “a moment of world-wide fame” for all fans. In the framework of our campaign entitled “Your HEADline goes World Cup!”, fans can post short, personal slogans on the HEAD SKI Facebook page. The slogans will then be rated by users. After the end of the HEADline campaign, the HEAD stars Lindsey Vonn, Maria Riesch, Bode Miller and Didier Cuche will select their two favorite slogans out of the top 30 HEADlines. At the World Cup races in St. Moritz, Switzerland (29 – 31 January 2010) the two ladies will display their favorite slogan on their skis, at the World Cup finals in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany (10 – 14 March 2010) it will be the turn of the guys to put the winning “male” slogan on their skis. Facebook users will bring a new look to the race design of HEAD skis, and the two authors of the selected slogans will enjoy a “moment of world-wide TV fame”.

“Skiing with HEAD is a very special experience and the fans of HEAD SKI on Facebook are a very special community. That’s why we want to give our fans something very special, something they will never forget and that will be a dazzling story to tell their friends for a long time to come”, says Ralph Kessler, International Communications Manager Wintersports at HEAD. A World Cup event is aired world-wide and when the stars are interviewed after the race and during the victory ceremony, the skis and their design are seen around the globe. “We have initiated this campaign for the races in St. Moritz and Garmisch to thank our fans and to put them into the limelight for a change”, says Kessler.

HEAD is already eagerly awaiting the slogans, comments or messages the participants will post. “The Facebook community will decide which slogans will make the short-list. And the final decision will be taken by our ski stars”, Kessler explains. Every slogan is assigned to two HEAD stars: either to the ladies’ team with Lindsey Vonn and Maria Riesch or to the men’s team featuring Bode Miller and Didier Cuche. The participants can therefore tailor their short message to their favorite duo. As befits the champions, only the two best slogans will make it on to the skis of the stars: the one for the ladies will be shown in St. Moritz, and in Garmisch it will be the men’s turn to show their HEADlined skis.

The HEAD SKI’s Facebook site is planned to stay an important platform for the brand also when the “Your HEADline goes World Cup!” campaign is over. “Facebook offers a great opportunity to remain in contact with our fans in an informal way and to share ideas with them”, says Ralph Kessler. And HEAD is going to make the best use of this opportunity in future.
