Biography

World class in Giant Slalom from the start Mathieu Faivre has already achieved something very special in his career. At his World Cup première in 2010 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the French athlete finished 15th to immediately notch up points. In Giant Slalom, Faivre's number one discipline, he became junior World Champion in the same year. Eleven years later, at the 2021 World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo, he achieved his greatest success to date winning Gold in the Giant Slalom. Mathieu Faivre was also unbeatable in the Parallel Slalom, and so the French athlete left Cortina as double World Champion. in 2022, he added to his long list of successes with a Bronze medal in the Giant Slalom at the Beijing Olympics. By the end of the 2022/23 season, he had also bagged two Giant Slalom victories in the World Cup; 2016 in Val d’Isere and 2021 in Bansko. In the 2016/17 season Faivre, who was born in Nice and competes for Club Douanes C.S. Isola, finished second in the Giant Slalom overall ranking. He put in a strong performance with the French team at the 2017 World Cup in St. Moritz, where he and his team-mates won Gold.
