HEAD Swimming is proud to support one of the toughest one- day races in the world. September 5, 2011
On September 5th a unique competition will take place in the Stockholm archipelago. Ö TILL Ö (island to island) is one of the toughest one- day races in the world. Teams of two athletes race together from island to island. The total distance of 64 km goes over 19 islands. 54 km of running and 10 km of open- water swimming between the islands. The swim sections are between 100 and 1.600 meters and the water will have a temperature of 12-14 degrees Celsius. The athletes are allowed to use wetsuits, paddles and fens, as long as they bring everything over the finish line.
The race attracts participants from all around the world. Participants include long distance triathletes and multisport athletes, mixed with elite militaries and adventures exercises. The fastest teams will accomplish the distance in 9 hours while the exerciser may need up to 14 hours, which is a great achievement in itself.
