SECOND TITLE FOR MARIA SHARAPOVA AT INDIAN WELLS MASTERS

March 18th, 2013

HEAD Racquet Rebel Maria Sharapova won her second title at the Indian Wells Masters and the 28th title of her career as she defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2 with her new HEAD YouTek™ Graphene™ Instinct. Sharapova also reclaimed the No. 2 spot in the WTA rankings.

"The score looks a lot easier than the match actually was", said Sharapova. "It was a tough battle and there were a lot of long games. It could have turned over easily the other way. I was able to serve well today, and that really helped me."

Sharapova started both sets with a break in a match lasting just under 90 minutes. The second seed never lost serve while breaking a total of four times. Sharapova becomes the eighth woman to win a two of Indian Wells titles after her first trophy in 2006.

In the men's draw Novak Djokovic, who swings his new HEAD YouTek™ Graphene™ Speed, reached the semi-final. The world No. 1 was beaten by the Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 after nearly three hours. HEAD Racquet Rebel Tomas Berdych also had a good week at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. After his loss to Rafael Nadal 4-6, 5-7 Berdych now looks ahead to the upcoming Sony Open in Miami where he will serve again with his new HEAD YouTek™ Graphene™ Instinct.
