The victory was her sixth WTA title and her third this season after Barcelona on clay and the grass of S’Hertogenbosch. "I began well, but in the second set I felt tired and the heat made things more difficult," said the Italian winner. "I didn't play aggressively enough and was still tired in the third but at 4-2 down I pushed myself, 'Come on, come on.' I started to play stronger on my forehand and managed to turn things around." For Medina Garrigues, her success meant an 18th career doubles trophy.

At the WTA event in Bastad, Head’s Swedish player Johanna Larsson (YouTek Radical MP) lost narrowly to Slovenian Polona Hercog 6-4, 7-5, It was the second career final for Larsson and her first in a year since one in Slovenia. The title match was a re-run of Wimbledon meeting three weeks ago, also won by Hercog.
