HEAD racquet rebel Novak Djokovic makes more history with Madrid triumph over Nadal

HEAD Racquet rebel Novak Djokovic cannot stop winning. The world’s No 2 has broken the spell of Rafael Nadal at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid with the HEAD player posting a 7-5, 6-4 victory to win the clay title against the best in the world on the surface. The victory in two and a quarter hours left the phenomenal Djokovic unbeaten for the season and winner of his last 34 matches (32 this year and two from Davis Cup in December). Djokovic's start is the best to a season since John McEnroe in 1984 when he went 42-0.

"I walked onto the court thinking I could win," said Djokovic. "I'm very happy with the way I played. This court was fast today, and I took advantage." Djokovic had kind words for Nadal. "It's always a pleasure playing you - you are a great champion."

Djokovic has now won his last three Masters 1000 titles at the expense of Nadal, whom he also beat in the Indian Wells and Miami finals. In total, Djokovic claimed already six titles in 2011 with his new with his YouTek IG Speed MP including the Australian Open. And he will continue the battle for the No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings at this week's Rome event and the French Open at the end of May.

HEAD player Victoria Azarenka moves to 7-7 in career singles finals but took a tough loss to Czech Petra Kvitova 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in the women's final. But by reaching the final, Azarenka will move to a career-best No. 4 in the WTA rankings.

"Petra had such a great week and totally deserved to win today. She showed some impressive tennis. I had some opportunities and there are a few things I should have done better, but that's how tennis works," said Azarenka who recently won back-to-back titles in Miami and Marbella with her new YouTek IG Extreme Pro.

Together with her partner Maria Kirilenko Azarenka also reached the doubles finals and they beat No.2 seeds Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in Saturday night's final in straight sets, 6-4 6-3.
