
Patty Schnyder from Switzerland added another impressive result to her 2005 season.
At Cincinnati Schnyder could win her first WTA title in North America and her tenth in total by beating surprise finalist Akiko Morigami from Japan 6:4 and 6:0 in the Championship Match of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open. “I now have one title, which is important for the rest of the weeks, Schnyder was telling, “it’ s a big win for me which gives me much confidence.”
For sure, she hopes to continue her strong play on the hard courts during the upcoming tournament in Stanford, and the following events in Toronto and New Haven, where she is going to participate.
Patty Schnyder has one of her best seasons in 2005, improving her record on Sunday to 38:13. This includes winning her ninth career title at Gold Coast in January, reaching the final at the Italian Open, the semi-finals at Dubai, Charleston and Berlin and the quarterfinals four more times including the Australian Open.
