HEAD Pros Aim for U.S. Open Victory

With today’s start of the U.S. Open, chances for HEAD success look strong as top performers highlight tournament play.

Among the top stories for this year’s tournament is World No. 2 Andy Murray, who at this time last year, reached his first-ever Grand Slam final at the U.S. Open last year. Murray, who plays with the new YOUTEK Radical Pro, has played well as of late taking the Rogers Cup title in Montreal and earning a trip to the semifinals in Cincinnati.

“Winning the U.S. Open is my top priority. I came so close to winning it last year that I will not be satisfied without a Slam under my belt,” said Murray. “While the competition is strong, I have a lot of momentum coming into the tournament and am playing some of my best tennis since making the switch to the YouTek Radical Pro.”

While Murray faces a tough first round draw in HEAD fellow player Ernests Gulbis, he remains a favorite to take the tournament and earn his first Grand Slam title.

Also a favorite in the competition, HEAD pro Novak Djokovic, who plays with a YOUTEK Speed Pro, looks to build on his success early in the season and get off to a fast start in the tournament. Djokovic, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the ATP rankings, is coming off a strong performance after making it to the finals in Cincinnati.

In addition to Murray and Djokovic, HEAD pros Gilles Simon, Robin Soderling and Marin Cilic should also be watched closely as they remain dangerous competitors. Simon possesses an extremely efficient game that could take him far in the tournament, Soderling has shown that he can take down any competitor and Cilic is perhaps one of the best young players in tennis right now. Both Cilic and Soderling wield the new YOUTEK Radical MP.

In women’s competition, World No. 6 Svetlana Kuznetsova headlines a group of strong female competitors for HEAD. Kuznetsova, who plays with a HEAD MicroGel Extreme Pro with Teflon polymer, is vying for her second Grand Slam title this year, as she won the French Open earlier in the season.

HEAD pro Victoria Azarenka also remains a favorite for the U.S. Open. Azarenka is currently ranked No. 9 in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour ranking.
