HEAD recently sponsored the 2009 Junior Masters in Napoli, organized by Tennis Europe, the largest regional association of the sport's governing body, the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
HEAD Team Elite Member Jovana Jaksic from Serbia took home the title in the Girls 16 & Under competition. She showed an impressive performance to wrap up her biggest title of the year, and her third in total. Having survived a marathon semi final against second seeded Romanian Simona Ionescu 6-4 2-6 7-6(4) in the semi finals, the third seed showed her 'A'-game with a 7-5 6-4 defeat of Ganna Poznikhirenko.
“The inaugural Tennis Europe Nations Challenge by HEAD and the 2009 Junior Masters were extremely successful both as events and for HEAD as a sponsor,” said Robert Marte, Executive Vice President of the Racquetsports Division. “This partnership strengthens our focus and commitment to our grass root program and also the cooperation with national federations."
The Junior Masters is an elite event for the top eight best-performing European players on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour. Former masters include Rafael Nadal, Tommy Robredo and Kim Clijsters.
