
HEAD player Ivan Ljubicic placed runner-up in his home tournament, the PBZ Zagreb Indoors in Croatia. In a 2 and a half hour fight against Marcos Baghdatis from Cyprus Ljubicic was finally defeated 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4. It was already his second final with his new HEAD MicroGel Extreme Pro racquet after his victory in Doha. On his way to the final Ljubicic beat fellow HEAD player Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the semi-final. Youzhny plays with a HEAD Flexpoint Instinct racquet.
Meanwhile, fellow HEAD player Alexander Waske of Germany and his partner Michael Kohlmann defeated Czech team Frantisek Cermak and Jaroslav Levinsky 7-6, 4-6, 10-5 to claim their second title as a team. Among others, the unseeded team beat No. 1 seeded Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram from Israel in the semi final 7-6(7), 6-3. Waske fought his way to victory with his HEAD Flexpoint Prestige Mid.
In Vina del Mar, HEAD doubles team Paul Capdeville of Chile and Oscar Hernandez of Spain each claimed their first career ATP doubles title with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 win over Spaniards Albert Montanes and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo in the Movistar Open final. This tournament marked the first appearance as a tandem for Capedeville and Hernandez. Capdeville played with the HEAD Flexpoint Instinct while Hernandez used a HEAD Flexpoint Prestige MP.
