HEAD Players Celebrate Successful Opens in China and Slovenia

September 27th, 2006

HEAD players have enjoyed great success at recent tournaments.

HEAD player Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia crushed Amelie Mauresmo, 6-4, 6-0, in the Tier II China Open final last week. The victory was her third straight win over top-seeded Mauresmo of France, and third victory over a reigning No.1 player.

Kuznetsova, the 2004 U.S. Open champion, was coming off last week’s title in Bali to make this win her eighth consecutive victory. The win boosted her ranking to No. 4 in the world. Kuznetsova plays with a HEAD Flexpoint Instinct.

In addition, last week in Portoroz, Slovenia, fifteen-year-old HEAD player Tamira Paszek of Austria capped a shocking title run at the Banka Koper Slovenia Open with a straight set win over Maria Elena Camerin of Italy, 7-5, 6-1. She is the youngest and lowest-ranked titlist this season. Paszek won her first-ever WTA singles final with a HEAD Liquidmetal Instinct.
