HEAD Pros Enjoy Success at Recent Tournaments

HEAD players enjoyed great success last week at various tournaments around the world.

HEAD player Simone Bolelli, who plays with a MicroGel Prestige Mid, reached the final round of the BMW Open in Munich. After defeating No. 1 seed Paul-Henri Mathieu in the semifinal round 7-6(1), 4-6, 7-6(4), Bolelli faced Fernando Gonzalez in the finals where he was eventually defeated.

“I felt I played a good, hard match,” said Bolelli. “I hit some really good shots but just wasn’t able to pull off a victory.”

Also in singles competition, HEAD player and qualifier Younes El Aynaoui, who plays with MicroGel Prestige Mid, gained momentum by reaching the semifinals losing to eventual winner Fernando Gonzalez.

In doubles competition, HEAD player Rainer Schuettler, of Germany, won the final with partner Michael Berrer. Schuettler and Berrer captured the title by defeating Scott Lipsky and David Martin 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.

In the Open Sabadell Atlántico, HEAD players Denis Gremelmayer and Stanislas Wawrinka reached the semifinals in Barcelona challenging No. 1 and No. 2 Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer respectively.

On the way, Gremelmayer won against No. 4 seeded James Blake in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Wawrinka defeated No. 6 David Nalbandian in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.

Last week, HEAD player Anabal Medina Garrigues, who plays with a MicroGel Extreme, made it to the finals in Fes where she was eventually defeated in two tight sets by No. 2 seed Gisela Dulko 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5).

In Prague, No. 3 seed HEAD player Victoria Azarenka reached the final round of the ECM Prague Open. Azarenka eventually lost to No. 1 seed Vera Zvonareva 7-6(2), 6-2. Azarenka plays with a HEAD MicroGel Extreme.
