HEAD Player Earns First Career ATP Title

HEAD player Marin Cilic earned his first career ATP Title with a victory over Mardy Fish in the Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament in New Haven. The sixth seeded Cilic, who plays with a MicroGel Radical MP, defeated his opponent 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

“It is an amazing feeling to have won my first career ATP Title,” said Cilic. “While it was a hard-fought match, I hit some really good shots that put me in a position to win the tournament.”

Last week, HEAD players Alize Cornet and Armelie Mauresmo reached the semifinals in singles competition in the Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament in New Haven. Cornet, who plays with a MicroGel Radical MP, was defeated by No. 1 seed Anna Chakvetadze 3-6, 6-3 1-6. Mauresmo, who plays with a MicroGel Radical MP, lost to eventual winner Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets 5-7, 4-6.

Fellow HEAD player Shuai Peng enjoyed a successful run at the Forest Hills Tennis Classics. Peng, who plays with a MicroGel Extreme, reached the finals where she lost in straight sets to Lucie Safarova 4-6, 2-6.
