Marin Cilic runner-up at home tournament

HEAD racquet rebel Marin Cilic claimed a spot in the final at his home tournament at the Studena Croatian Open in Umag. Cilic, playing with a YouTek Radical MP, fell to Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the final. Cilic was playing in his tenth career final on the ATP and now stands 5-5 in title bids.

Despite missing the chance for a first title since February 2010, Cilic was pleased with his showing in front of his public. "I'm really pleased with the way things went this week," said the 22-year-old who is hoping to return to the ATP Top ten. "We haven't had a Croatian in the final here for 21 years, it was a relief for the tournament and also for me to reach the final and be playing well at home." Cilic fired four aces and saved nine of a dozen break points against his serve in the final.

Wimbledon quarter-finalist Tamira Paszek (YouTek IG Instinct MP) reached the semi-finals before falling against No. 1 seed Shahar Peer 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-4. By reaching final four Tamira is now very close to hear career high ranking (WTA No. 35) – she is currently ranked on position No. 36.
