HEAD, Official Ball supplier to the ATP World Tour and the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, also provides its HEAD ATP flagship ball to the BNP Paribas ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris.
HEAD produces its tennis balls in the world most automated tennis ball factory according to quality standards, which exceed the specifications outlined by the ITF in all criteria determining the playability of tennis balls. These quality standards are even higher than the ITF standards for those balls which HEAD provided to all of its partner tournaments on the ATP World Tour in 2011, including the Paris BNP Paribas Masters tournament.
Following some complaints in the media about the playability of the balls used at the tournament, HEAD have consulted ATP top players Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, who confirmed that, whilst there are playability issues in connection with the new, rough surface used at the Paris tournament, there are no specific ball quality issues.
ATP No.1 player Novak Djokovic confirmed that the HEAD ATP “is the best ball around, and whenever I can, I definitely choose that ball!”
Johan Eliasch, CEO of HEAD N.V. points out “It is indeed unfortunate that the playability issue in connection with this new surface has been confused with product quality. HEAD is and always will be dedicated to product and quality excellence."
