The HEAD YouTek™ Star Series racquets, whose three models were launched in May, are the first Tennis Racquet Series to win the prestigious 2010 Red Dot Award for Product Design. Tennis legends Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, who have been closely involved in the performance development of the new YouTek™ Star Series, are joining HEAD in the celebration of this top international design prize.
In 2010 Red Dot received more than 4.000 product registrations from 60 nations in several categories (for more information go to http://www.red-dot.de). HEAD's YouTek™ Star Series won the Freetime-Sport category to continue the HEAD success story - a team effort between Marketing, R&D and the designers of Attivo Creative Resource S.r.l. based in Italy.
"Design is gaining importance in all consumer goods," said Ottmar Barbian, Director of Sales & Marketing HEAD Racquetsports, who accepted the award at the July 5 ceremony at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany. "People only buy goods they like and which they feel look attractive. This also counts for tennis rackets. We focused on more design orientation, and with the new Multizone Grip we developed the first integrated racquet design from top to bottom."
Innovative HEAD technology can be easily seen in the Star Series, consisting of the models Three Star, Five Star and Six Star, each designed with a certain player in mind. The rackets feature d3o™ material, QuadFace, a Control Ring, and the new Mulitzone Grip, four innovative technologies ensuring that they will soon become a leading choice for recreational players of all levels around the world.
