HEAD player Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia defeated home favorite and former world No. 1 Martina Hingis to reach the semifinals at the Zurich Open last Friday. Kuznetsova beat fifth seed Hingis 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. Third seeded Kuznetsova fought hard to overcome Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, earning a 7-6, 7-5 victory and went on to defeat Hingis.
Kuznetsova launched her career with HEAD in 2000 and has remained a strong force on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour ever since. Her career rocketed with her victory at the U.S. Open in 2004, and continued by winning the Australian Open doubles in 2005 and 13 additional titles. In 2006 she celebrated three single tournament victories in Miami, Bali and Beijing.
With her at every victory was her HEAD Flexpoint Instinct which was designed for the new generation of aggressive players with longer, faster swing styles.
