Tomas Berdych’s Game is Instinct

August 10th, 2011

HEAD racquet rebel Tomas Berdych presented his new weapon of choice, the HEAD YouTek™ IG Instinct MP, in his first singles match at the Rogers Cup ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal against Alexandr Dolgopolov. The world No. 9 defeated the Ukrainian young gun 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

"I'm excited to be part of the strong HEAD Team," said Berdych. "We've developed a fantastic racquet which perfectly suits my game. I'm really looking forward to this partnership."

Berdych is currently one of four ATP Top Ten players playing a HEAD racquet, joining World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, two-time Australian Open finalist Andy Murray and Robin Soderling, two-time runner-up at Roland Garros.

In 2010, Tomas Berdych finished in the Top 10 for the first time (with a 45-26 record), and reached the Wimbledon final, as well as the semi-final at the French Open. He gave a lot of input into the development of the racquet, which is also played by three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova, who joined the HEAD team at the start of 2011.

The YouTek™ Instinct IG series launches in two versions, the MP and the S model. Both allow players to create power in their strokes much easier, due to better manoeuvrability of the racquet during the swinging movement and less energy loss at ball impact. They also feature HEAD's innovative Innegra™ technology, which reduces vibration on ball impact and allows for more control. The new HEAD INSTINCT racquets are hitting stores worldwide right in time for the US Open at the end of August.
