HEAD Enjoys Recognition at ATP Tournaments

August 16th, 2006

The HEAD brand has received a great deal of positive attention recently with the debut of its new line of High Quality tennis balls at several ATP tournaments. HEAD gained praise from players across the board for the balls’ playability and edge on the court and consumers shared the enthusiasm by buying hundreds of cans at the HEAD booth during the tournaments.

The HEAD Tournament Tennis Balls had a great showing on the court at Gstaad, at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel, and Stuttgart as the official ball of these ATP tournaments. HEAD player Agustin Calleri defeated fellow Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela in the final of the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel on July 30, breaking a four-match losing streak. In addition, HEAD player Richad Gasquet claimed his third career title by defeating sixth-seeded Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the Gstaad final on July 16. And HEAD player Jose Acasuso took home runner-up honors for the Stuttgart title after a come-from-behind victory by third-seeded David Ferrer.

“Our expectations for the new HEAD tennis ball have been high but the initial response from both players and consumers even exceeded them,” said Robert Marte, Division Manager, HEAD/Penn Racquet Sports Division.

HEAD is the official tennis ball of the ATP, the ATP Masters Series and the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
