HEAD announces endorsement of World No.3 Amelie Mauresmo

February 2nd, 2007

HEAD announced today that the company has signed an agreement with world No. 3 Amelie Mauresmo of France. The partnership begins immediately and will continue through 2010. Mauresmo’s deal marks the second signing of a top 10 player in recent weeks; Ivan Ljubicic signed a contract with HEAD in late December 2006.

“Mauresmo is the embodiment of the new HEAD brand. She is strong, determined and true professional and we are proud to have her onboard,” said Robert Marte, Division Manager, HEAD Racquetsports. “We want to support her with our high quality products as she makes her way to becoming the WTA No. 1 again.”

Mauresmo will make her debut as a HEAD athlete at “Gaz de France” in Paris on Monday, playing with HEAD’s Flexpoint Radical MP. She is well known for her powerful one-handed backhand and her strong net play.

“HEAD has a huge presence on tour so I am extremely excited to join the HEAD family. The fresh, modern new branding appeals to what I think of as my style of tennis play,” Mauresmo said. “I can’t wait to get on the court with my new weapon of choice!”

Mauresmo joins an established roster of professionals who play with HEAD. About 40 of the female and male top 100 players on tour are HEAD athletes including Ivan Ljubicic, Andy Murray, Marat Safin, Richard Gasquet, Gael Monfils, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Patty Schnyder and Anastasia Myskina.

Coached by Loïc Courteau of France, Mauresmo holds two Grand Slam titles won at the 2006 Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006. She is currently ranked No. 3 in the world. Mauresmo was born in St-Germains-en-Laye, France in 1979, and currently resides and trains in Geneva, Switzerland. Inspired by watching Yannick Noah win the 1983 French Open on television, she began to play tennis at the age of 4 and turned pro in 1994.
