HEAD Pros Excel at Recent Tournaments

HEAD player Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, who plays with the HEAD Flexpoint Prestige MP, reached the final of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart. After beating two Argentinean seeds Juan Ignacio Chela and Guillermo Canas, Wawrinka went on to play World No. 2 Rafael Nadal. Nadal defeated Wawrinka in a close match 6-4, 7-5.

"I lost the match today but I played really well and it's been an unbelievable week for me," Wawrinka said.

In the doubles competition, HEAD player, Guillermo Garcia Lopez and partner Fernando Verdasco beat No. 1 seed doubles team, Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle 7-6(2), 6-0 on their way to the final round.

HEAD player and No. 2 seed Mikhail Youzhny reached the semifinal round at the Dutch Open in Amersfoort after beating Russian player Evgeny Korolev 6-4, 6-3. Youzhny chooses the HEAD MicroGel Extreme Pro as his weapon of choice.

Meanwhile in the doubles competition, HEAD player Juan Pablo Brzezicki and fellow Argentinean Juan-Pablo Guzman could win the tournament. Playing together for the first time, the duo beat fellow HEAD player Robin Haase and his partner Rogier Wassen 6-2, 6-0. Brzezicki and Haase, both play with the HEAD Flexpoint Prestige MP.

HEAD player, South Korean Hyung-Taik Lee, who plays with the MicroGel Radical MP, reached the semi-finals at the Countrywide Classic in Los Angeles. Lee defeated the former World No. 1 seed, Marat Safin of Russia, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in 2 hours 13 minutes.

HEAD player, Sania Mirza reached the semifinals in the singles competition and earned the doubles title at the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open in Cincinnati. Her performance in Cincinnati moved Mirza three places up to 35th in the WTA's latest singles rankings. Mirza also plays with the MicroGel Extreme Pro.
