Andy Murray Takes Title in Marseille

February 19th, 2008

HEAD Player Andy Murray captured his fifth career ATP title this past weekend at the Open 13 tournament in Marseille, France.

World No. 11 Andy Murray, who plays with a MicroGel Radical MP, became the first two-time ATP singles winner in 2008 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Mario Ancic, of Croatia, in the final of the Open 13.

“It was a very high standard match,” Murray said. “I hit some really important shots on the big points, especially at the end of that first set. It was a really long game and I think even though he broke me early in the second set, that game was really important mentally, because if he had got back into it and maybe won the set it would have been tough for me.”

Scotsman Murray, who collected his first title of the season in Doha by defeating Stanislas Wawrinka in three sets, now improves to 10-1 for the year and returned to the Top 10 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings.
