Novak Djokovic backs up his Beijing trophy and reaches ATP World Tour Finals in London

HEAD racquet rebel Novak Djokovic did double duty to defend his 2009 trophy at the China Open while also clinching his spot for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London. It was a long weekend of waiting in Beijing's rainy conditions for Djokovic, who dominated with his YouTek Speed MP in a 6-2, 6-4, defeat of Spain's David Ferrer. The match had to be finished a day late on Monday with the Shanghai Rolex ATP Masters 1000 event having already started.

Djokovic's raced through the final after taking a 3-1 lead the night before when heavy rain stopped play. The World No. 2 has defended his second title in 2010 after winning Dubai in February. The Serb did not drop a single set throughout the tournament week and now stands at a match record of 49-13 this year.

Djokovic qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London with five weeks to go in the ATP season: "I was really happy to hear the news. It's four consecutive years for me to get to the finals, so this achievement means a lot," said Djokovic. "I will do my best to get even further than I did last year to try to pass the group stage."

In Beijing, Ivan Ljubicic reached the semi-final and took Ferrer to three tough sets. Ljubicic, who is playing with the YouTek Extreme Pro, beat HEAD fellow player Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.
