    HEAD Players Murray and Haas reach Wimbledon Semifinals

    HEAD players Andy Murray and Tommy Haas advanced to the semi final rounds of Wimbledon 2009. Nenad Zimonjic won the doubles competition with partner Daniel Nestor while Mark Knowles took home the mixed doubles title together with Anna-Lena Groenefeld.

    Local hero Andy Murray was defeated in the semifinals by Andy Roddick 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5). Roddick advanced to the final round, where he was ultimately defeated by Roger Federer who had defeated HEAD player Tommy Haas in the semifinal round 7-6(3) 7-5 6-3 earlier in the week.

    Haas, who was able to beat World No. 4 and HEAD fellow Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal, gained 15 positions and is now ranked No. 19 in the ATP World Tour Ranking.

    In men’s doubles, HEAD player Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia and his partner Daniel Nestor of Canada defeated Bob and Mike Bryan 7-6(7) 6-7(3) 7-6(3) 6-3, in the finals.

    In mixed doubles news, HEAD player Mark Knowles of the Bahamas and partner Anna-Lena Groenefeld from Germany took home the title at Wimbledon, defeating Leander Paes and Cara Black 7-5, 6-3.
