    • Tamira Paszek conquers Eastbourne title

      Tamira Paszek claimed a pre-Wimbledon WTA title as the Austrian HEAD racquet rebel won her first career trophy on grass with a 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 upset of world No. 8 Angelique Kerber in the final of the AEGON International in Eastbourne. The 59th-ranked Paszek, playing with her YouTek IG Instinct MP, needed almost three hours to overcome her German opponent as well as an ankle injury which she had taped in the second set as she played on for the victory.

      Maria Sharapova won a second straight title as she repeated her trophy triumph from 2011 at the Foro Italico, defeating French Open champion Li Na of China in the final of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia. Novak Djokovic reached another final against Rafael Nadal which was played a day late due to the weekend rain. The HEAD ace came up just short in a 7-5, 6-3 result but heads into the French Open looking to make history for himself as he bids to win a fourth consecutive Grand Slam title.

    • Berdych pushes Federer in Madrid battle

      HEAD racquet rebel Tomas Berdych showed fantastic performances in last week’s ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid before bowing out to Roger Federer 3-6, 7-5, 7-5. The Mutua Madrilena Open being played in on experimental blue clay seemed almost perfect for the big game of sixth-seed Berdych, who tested Federer heavily in their struggle lasting 2:39. Roberta Vinci claimed the women's doubles title together with Sara Errani which sent them to the No. 1 spot in the race to the WTA Championships in doubles.

      Novak Djokovic won a tight battle between fellow HEAD racquet rebels, bolstering his world No. 1 status with a third career trophy at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. Djokovic lifted the 30th title of his career with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) defeat over Andy Murray in the final. This victory completed a Miami hat-trick for the 24-year-old after winning in 2007 and 2011. On the women's side, Maria Sharapova claimed a spot in the final.
