Washington/USA – 3rd August, 2014:

HEAD Racquet Rebel Svetlana Kuznetsova earned her first WTA title in four years as she defeated Kurumi Nara of Japan 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to win the Washington Citi Open. The Russian, ranked 26th at the start of last week, came to the court with 13 WTA titles, the last in August 2010 in San Diego.

Kuznetsova’s victory took two and a quarter hours and she finally won thanks to a late break in the ninth game of the deciding set. "It feels like too long since my last title," said the Racquet rebel. „It’s a great feeling. I work very hard and winning titles is why you play tennis."

On the men's side of the field in the American capital, Racquet Rebel and sixth seed Richard Gasquet could enter the semi-finals and was fighting hard, but finally lost 7-6(5), 3-6, 5-7 to Canadian Vasek Pospisil. "I'm really disappointed," said Gasquet, who endorses the HEAD IG Extreme. "It's very difficult to lose 5-7 in the third. I thought I had a really good chance to win."

HEAD's Dominic Thiem came close to the first win of his career in Kitzbuehel, but fell just short as Belgian David Goffin secured a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over the Austrian who endorses the HEAD Graphene Prestige. "You have to find the right words and I hope that I managed to do that. It was an amazing week for me and the crowd gave me huge support during every match," said Thiem who was playing his first ATP final.
