HEAD racquet rebels Berdych and Youzhny claim European indoor titles

HEAD racquet rebels Tomas Berdych and Mikhail Youzhny earned ATP title success indoors with trophies at Montpellier and Zagreb. World No. 7 Berdych from the Czech Republic, playing with his YouTek IG Instinct MP, defeated Gael Monfils of France 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in their final, while Youzhny swung his YouTek IG Extreme Pro for the win over Slovak Lukas Lacko 6-2, 6-3.

"I expected a tough final. I felt he was the best player on the other side of the draw," said Berdych, Australian Open quarter-finalist in Melbourne. "It was a close match, decided by one or two points. I'm happy that I was the one to become the champion and get the last break and finish it with my serve. Berdych now stands 7-6 in career finals and now owns two indoor titles after winning the ATP Masters 1000 title at Paris Bercy in 2005.

Youzhny, who earned his doctorate in 2011 after years of study, was pleased to claim his eighth career trophy in his 18th final. "It feels really good, as it was my best match of the tournament, and that's why I won today. It's tough to compare my level today with previous years, it's impossible. But for sure today was my best tennis of the week.”

Carlos Berlocq finished the VTR Open as runner-up after a 3-6, 7-6 (1), 1-6 in an all-Argentine final in Vina del Mar against top seeded Juan Monaco. Berlocq, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Friday, had only dropped one set en route to his first ATP World Tour final, including victory over second seed Juan Ignacio Chela in the semi-finals.
