Just four months after asking Raphael Nadal for an autograph in a locker room at the 2013 US Open, 24-year-old ]Peter Gojowczyk met his idol on a different stage: on the other side of the net during the semi-final of the 2014 Qatar Open where the German qualifier came close to a major upset. In the end, Nadal came through in four tight and hard fought sets, but Gojowczyk sure left his mark.
The semi-final in Qatar was not only the biggest success of his young career so far, but also the first time “Gojo” stepped on the court with head to toe HEAD equipment, making him one of two active players on the tour, the second being Bradley Kahn (ATP ‘s singles world ranking #95) who signed a contract through 2016. Both players endorse the brand new HEAD Graphene Prestige racquet, and will play in HEAD apparel and the new HEAD Sprint pro footwear model, a shoe especially Gojowczyk loved from the first moment on.
“Normally, it takes me some time to get used to a new shoe, but I felt comfortable with the Sprint Pro from the very first time I put it on. It provides both the support and maneuverability I need on the court”, says Gojo.
