HEAD Racquet rebels Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic reach semis at World Tour Finals

HEAD's Novak Djokovic will look ahead to Serbia's Davis Cup final against France in Belgrade after finishing his ATP season in the semi-finals of the 2010 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. The racquet rebel joined fellow HEAD players Andy Murray and Robin Soderling in the elite eight-man field in London.

Djokovic finished round-robin play on second place before being caught out 6-1, 6-4 in by Roger Federer who could win the Masters final in three sets against Rafael Nadal. The Serb said that despite his disappointment at failing to reach the title match, he still has perhaps the most prestigious week of his season to look forward to. "There is still a big occasion in front of me. It's going to be quite different, obviously, from this tournament," said Djokovic, playing with a YouTek Speed MP.

Djokovic headed into Masters Final with 59 victories and 18 losses on the season with titles at Dubai and Beijing, both repeats from 2009. He also played the US Open final against Rafael Nadal.

Britain's Andy Murray (YouTek Radical Pro) put up a huge battle with Nadal, saving two match points and denying the Spaniard when the No. 1 first served for victory. But the effort of more than three hours came up just short as Murray went out to end his season 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 in heroic style.

The effort gave hope to Murray's possibilities in 2011, with the Scot now planning a rest before taking up his December training in steamy Miami. He then travels to Australia for the January 1 start of the Hopman Cup mixed teams event in Perth. “I want to try and I guess build on this for next year," said Murray, back on a No. 4 ATP ranking as a result of his London performance. "It was a great match to finish the year. But I need to improve because I'm competing with the two best players of all time. So if I want to win these tournaments, if I want to win the Grand Slams, I need to get better. But I played a great match today.”

In the group stages, Soderling (YouTek Prestige MP) took a win over David Ferrer but was defeated by Federer and Murray. The Swede who has played the last two finals at the French Open vows that he will be ready to lift his game next season. "I've played pretty well now for two years and I don't see why I shouldn't play well next year. I'll have a little bit of vacation now, it's been a very long season," said Soderling. "I feel it both physically and mentally. I'll practise a couple of weeks in Monte Carlo before I leave for Australia one or two days after Christmas."

In the doubles final, HEAD's Nenad Zimonjic and his Canadian partner Daniel Nestor ended a hugely successful doubles partnership with a second title in three years at the year-ender, defeating Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi 7-6, 6-4. Zimonjic now moved on to join Djokovic for the emotional Davis Cup week. "I'm looking forward to the upcoming Davis Cup final which is very important for me," said the Serb. "This is just a big confidence boost for me."
