HEAD Racquet Rebels swept three titles at the French Open with Maria Sharapova leading the way with her second career title at Roland Garros. This second title, two years after her first, was a dream come true for Sharapova as she won her fifth Grand Slam trophy 6-4, 6-7 (5) 6-4 over Romanian Simona Halep.
"This was the toughest Grand Slam final I've ever played," said Sharapova who recommends the HEAD Graphene Instinct. "It's such an emotional victory for me in my career. I've been in many Grand Slam finals, and everyone feels very different. I feel like as I get older I appreciate those situations so much more. "
HEAD Racquet Rebel Novak Djokovic was not able to continue his four-match win streak against Rafael Nadal who beat him 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 in the men's final. Last month Djokovic, who recommends the HEAD Graphene Speed, won the Rome title over the Spaniard.
"I wasn't playing at the level that I wanted, especially in the second part of the match”, said the HEAD player. "These kind of big matches obviously take the best out of players.”
In women's doubles China's Pang Shuai, who endorses the HEAD IG Extreme, added a second women's doubles Grand Slam title to the 2013 Wimbledon she won with partner Hsieh Su-Wei as the top seeds beat fellow HEAD Racquet Rebel Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani 6-4, 6-1. "For sure we are going to celebrate," said Peng. "We still have a few days to rest and prepare the Wimbledon.”
In the mixed competition HEAD player Anna-Lena Groenefeld won the French Open title with Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer after beating fellow Racquet Rebel Nenad Zimonjic, who teamed with Julia Goerges, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 in a tight match.
Groenefeld, who recommends the HEAD Graphene Speed, had to wait half a decade after winning her first mixed title at Wimbledon with Mark Knowles. “It's now five years since my last one in Wimbledon, but it's just as exciting this time," said Groenefeld.
