September 12th, 2005

HEAD player Andre Agassi’s remarkable performance at the 2005 US Open captured the hearts of fans as he advanced to the final round for the sixth time in his career. In front of a sell-out crowd, No.1-ranked Roger Federer triumphed in four hard-fought sets after Agassi displayed his legendary athleticism and determination that has earned him the title of one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

Agassi’s road to this year’s U.S. Open final was highlighted with several epic matches. Agassi’s never-quit attitude propelled him past Xavier Malisse of Belgium in a five-set thriller in the fourth round. In a heroic quarterfinal match, Agassi overcame a two-set deficit against fellow countryman James Blake to claim victory in a fifth set tiebreaker. He also outlasted fellow American Robby Ginepri in his third consecutive five-set match to advance to the 2005 U.S. Open men’s final round. With him at every victory was his HEAD Flexpoint.radical OS tennis racquet.

Agassi and HEAD joined forces in the summer of 1993 and later that year he began his unprecedented rise to the world’s top spot. In the 12 years since, Agassi has won seven of eight career Grand Slam titles playing with HEAD’s Radical tennis racquets.

Flexpoint is a racquet technology that offers players of all levels ultimate control with no loss of power. Two small holes located at the three o’clock and nine o’clock positions of the frame are cradled within dimples to create a precisely engineered “flexpoint” when the ball makes contact with the strings.
