
Maria won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2004, overcoming Serena Williams in the final. In 2011, Maria reached her first final in 14 months at the Masters tournament in Miami and went on to claim the clay-court Masters event in Rome. In 2012, Maria was the victor in both Stuttgart and Rome, before being crowned the champion at Roland Garros and once again taking the No. 1 WTA World Tour ranking. In her career to date, Maria has won 4 Grand Slams and captured 28 tournament titles.
