Biography
"Better late than never" Although Johan Clarey has not yet won a World Cup race, the French athlete still holds two impressive records. At the 2019 World Championship in Aare, Clarey bagged Silver in the Super-G. At the age of 38 and 29 days, he has gone down as the oldest medal winner at an Alpine Ski World Championships so far. Clarey commented "Better late than never. I'm like 20 in my head!" The second record goes back to the 19th of January, 2013. During the Downhill event on the Lauberhorn run in Wengen, he skied the Haneggschuss at 161.9 kph - the highest speed measured in the Ski World Cup to date. So far the French athlete has notched up a total of seven World Cup podium finishes - six in Downhill and one in Super-G. Clarey can also be satisfied last season: he finished seventh in the Downhill World Cup overall ranking.
