Biography
"Be yourself, because the original is worth more than a copy" The motto on her website says a lot about Lara Gut-Behrami, because she likes to go her own way. From an early age, she’s been very successful in doing so. The Swiss athlete bagged her first World Cup victory in the Super-G in St. Moritz in 2008 aged only 17. Her record of being the youngest skier to climb on the podium in this discipline still stands today. Since then, Lara has won 26 World Cup races, five medals in World Championships (three Silver and Two bronze) and one Bronze medal at the Olympic Games. Her greatest success so far was winning the overall World Cup in 2015/16, which was the season she switched to HEAD. She comes from the Ticino region of Switzerland and has also been at the top of the Super-G overall ranking on two occasions. Although she is on the slopes almost all year round, she also loves the summer, the beach and the sea. She also likes reading and baking. She has been married to the Swiss footballer Valon Behrami since 2018 and has used the name Gut-Behrami ever since.
