XTERRA Europe 2021

In beautiful Toscolano Maderno, on the shores of Lake Garda, the long-awaited XTERRA Europe 2021 season of off-road triathlon began last weekend, and this year it is sponsored by Zoggs for the swimming leg!

The big news this year is the Short Track version, a short course race concept that debuted in the Czech Republic in 2019. This course is made up of a two-lap 400m swim with an Australian exit, a very technical four-lap, 6km bike circuit littered with jumps, rock gardens, root infested single track and a couple of flat-out pedaling sections, and the run is then condensed in to two super-fast laps . A pulse-pounding competition at the highest level, between the top athletes of the circuit!

We reached out Marco Zoppi, the organizer of the last 6 XTERRA cross-triathlon races at Lake Garda, as we wanted to get a short interview with him right after the race! Here his excited comments regarding the event which is broadcast worldwide:

"Returning to organize an Xterra event after a year's break has been challenging and rewarding. The short track formula is very exciting and spectacular. The Multilap circuit allows the public to follow the complete race, and this tool also allows us as organizers to give the right visibility to our partners. To be supported by important brands like HEAD over the past few years, and now by ZOGGS, adds prestige and importance to the whole XTERRA circuit".

The next short track XTERRA race will be held in the Czech Republic on the 19th-20th of June. The weekend will be full of events, because as well as the Short version, we will also find the classic full-distance 'endurance' races for both professionals and amateurs.

All Short-Track events, selections and finals will be visible online on TriathlonLive.tv and XTERRA Europe's Facebook page.
