Skiing is his passion, it is the thing that motivates Sam to go to work and to stay fit and healthy. He started skiing in his home country of New Zealand when he was 2 and a half years old and has skied every winter since, and then some. Sam Lee has been competing internationally on the Freeride World Qualifer series for the last 4 years mainly focussed on three and four star rated events.
After a successful 2016 Northern hemisphere season he finished in 3rd place on the FWQ tour for Europe/Oceania and was one of three ski men to qualify for the 2017 Freeride World Tour. Now his objective is to be as well prepared as he can by the end of 2016 in order to take advantage of this amazing opportunity and to become an established rider on the World Tour. Sams competitive career started out at the age of 8 when he took up ski racing on the weekends at Mt Ruapehu in the North Island. He raced until the age of 16 when he finally decided it wasn't what he wanted to pursue, Sam moved immediately into big mountain competing in the NZ Jr nationals and the NZ open in his first season. When he was 13 Sam and his parents relocated to Wanaka, a small ski town in the Southern alps. A move which Sam attributes to his love of skiing and all things adventure and nature related.
