Massaro and Darwish win World Series titles in Kuala Lumpur

HEAD Racquet Rebel Laura Massaro won her 11th WSA World Tour title and her second World Series title in her career. World No. 3 ranked Massaro had a great run at the CIMB KL Open Squash Championship.

After her win over Irishwoman Madeline Perry and seven-time World Champion Nicole David, Massaro defeated Alison Waters in the all British final. After a close first game 11-9 Massaro extended her overall lead as she took the second game 11-7 and finally completed the match as a champion in the third game.

“I won!! KL Open champion. My second ever World Series title, so excited! Massive thanks to everyone who helped me achieve my win this week!” said Massaro who was overwhelmed by her success. Now she will focus on the next World Series event, the Allam British Open, which will take place in front of Massaro’s home crowd in May.

After winning in 2011 HEAD player Karim Darwish captured his second title in Kuala Lumpur. In the final the Egypt beat 22 year-old fellow countryman El Shorbagy in a three set battle 11-9, 12-10, 11-7.

"I had to play extremely well - last time he beat me in three," said Darwish after his 23rd PSA Tour title."
