Biography

Alexander Schmid made his World Cup debut in October 2014 at the Giant Slalom in Sölden. In December 2016, the German athlete finished in sixth place in the Giant Slalom in Val d'Isère, scoring points for the first time. Finishing in third place in the Parallel Giant Slalom in Chamonix, he stood on the podium for the first time in February 2020. In December 2021, he finished third in Alta Badia to stand on the podium for the first time in Giant Slalom. At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, he won the Silver medal in the Team Event. Alexander Schmid, who has been a member of the German Customs Ski Team since 2013, grew up in the Allgäu region. Together with his older brother Manuel, Alex started racing thanks to his mother Carola, who is a former World Cup skier. His father Stefan, who is also a passionate skier, gave both sons a great deal of support and encouragement. In his spare time Alexander Schmid loves all kinds of sports, especially soccer, tennis and climbing.
