Sam Kuch is the 2018 IF3 Discovery of the Year athlete recipient. He started skiing when he was two years old at Whitewater Ski resort. Growing up riding the steep terrain around Whitewater, he naturally excelled at freeride skiing. At fourteen years old, Sam started competing on the IFSA freeride circuit which eventually led him to travel all over North America and Europe to ski and compete in freeride competitions. With success in competitions, he got his foot in the door with the ski industry, picking up a few sponsors along the way, including HEAD. In the last few years, Sam has changed his focus from competing, to skiing for film and photography. As his career builds, he´s getting more opportunities to ski in amazing places and connecting with so many great people along the way. Sam is really thankful to his amazing family, friends and Whitewater Ski Resort for raising him, and to HEAD and Village Ski Hut for all of the support. His ski of choice is the KORE 117, stiff and poppy, the perfect backcountry pillow sticks.
